After graduating in Geological Sciences at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" in 1988, I received a four year post-graduate scholarship of the Ministry of the University and of Scientific and Technological Research, carrying out activities of specialization at the Department of Palaeontology of the Natural History Museum of Budapest (Hungary). Subsequently, I attended to the PhD in Earth Sciences at the University of Rome “La Sapienza” obtaining the doctorate degree in 1998. From 1998 to 2006, I was researcher of the National Council of Researches (CNR), at the CSQuEA (Centro di Studio sul Quaternario e l'Evoluzione Ambientale) and at the IGAG (Istituto di Geologia Ambientale e Geoingegneria). Since 2006, I have been Associate Professor at the Department of Geosciences of the University of Padua.
My fields of interest concern all the aspects of palaeontology of Mesozoic bivalves and gastropods, including systematics, phylogeny, stratigraphical significance, palaeoecology and palaeobiogeography. The main researches are focused on the systematics of the Jurassic gastropods and on the characterization of palaeobiogeographical, palaeoecological and evolutionary events in the context of the geodynamical and palaeoenvironmental history of western Tethys.
