The CaSSIS experiment on the ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter and ice-related processes on Mars
Nicolas Thomas, University of Bern
The ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter (TGO) is a joint European Space Agency-Roscosmos mission to investigate trace gases and their sources on Mars. The spacecraft is expected to enter its prime mission in the last week of April. TGO carries the Colour and Stereo Surface Imaging System (CaSSIS) which is a Swiss-led experiment with hardware contributions from Italy (Padova) and Poland. The presentation will highlight the novel features of the instrument for Mars observations and will discuss science objectives for the prime mission connected to water and CO2 ice-related processes at mid to high latitudes.
